Summer '26 Weaving and Knitting Project

You must be wondering... what the hell is my summer 2026 project?

First, I have to let you know how I got here. I learned how to spin on a wheel 2 years ago, at the Lorain County Spinners and Weavers Guild during the summer between my first and second year. I only knew how to knit and crochet prior to that workshop, so it opened new doors for me in the world of fiber arts.

This past winter term, one of my projects involved weaving a moth cloak. Now, this semester was so busy I wasn't able to dye it, but I was able to finish weaving, cutting and sewing the pieces. I want to do natural dyeing but I had no prior experience (as always) with that. I was also not sure what color I would want to make it since the yarn I wove with was an off white, cream colored alpaca yarn. There are so many color options for moths, like green and brown variations, green variations, pink and yellow variations, etc etc. Unfortunately, i had finished sewing the piece right as the semester took off, and didn't have any time to decide what I wanted to dye it. (I also had to sew bias tape on the cloak edges but couldn't manage to find or make a cream colored wool bias tape. Should have just used cotton!!).

Fast forward to this semester,
